Clay time

Armature waiting to be clayed. I sealed off the foam with a quick blast from the heat gun.

First layer of clay now on.

Armature Done.

Dowels to locate model on base board.

Double sided tape on underside for clay to stick to.

Some rough 3D drawings

Just some different views of a rough and quick (supposed to be quick anyway, only wasn't) 3D line drawing in CAD to check the proportions and forms. Turned out good. I was a little unsure whether the back will look much like the sketches, but I was pleasantly surprised by the similarity. This model might help with designing whatever crazy armature the clay model might need.

Final Renderings

Rear

Front

Ultimately, I chose a different design for the side, one that more closely matches the original marker concept. I think this matches the overall design more nicely, and more consistent with what I originally wanted to achieve, i.e. design inspired by cyclists' helmets.

Rough rendering

Rendering to describe the details better. I wanted to see how the bulging out sides idea from some of the development sketches would look rendered.

Refinements of chosen concept

I ended up choosing the first concept. It's definitely the most unique of the concepts.
